Fan throated lizards: why have so many colours!?

Males of fan throated lizards develop beautiful blue, black and orange colours just before the breeding season. We know that these colourful fans are used to signal to other males and females. But each additional colour and movement used to 'signal' is going to attract predators.


Why then, have so many different colours!? Check the video to find out!
