Clapping butterflies!

Have you ever noticed that butterflies have much bigger wings than other bugs? Their wings are so big, it makes you wonder how they can even fly!

Well, butterflies fly by clapping their wings!

Butterfly wings are really bendy. When they're flying, they move their wings backward and make them into a cup shape. This pushing motion helps the butterfly move forward. Then, when they bring their wings downward, it helps support their weight, keeping them up in the air.

Next time you see a butterfly, watch closely. Can you see it clapping its wings?
